The home of the iconic sparkling wine
This region has an impressive and long-standing wine history. Like Tuscany, the vines here have been cultivated since pre-historic eras, following the migration and occupation of the Etruscan, Rhaetian, and Ligurian populations. Nowadays, Lombardia is recognized as the home of Franciacorta, the iconic sparkling wine made from the Champenoise method around the Brescia province. Aside from Franciacorta, the region also has several different microclimates allowing it to have a massive range of distinctive wines, including 23 DOC and 5 DOCG.
